Self-Publishing Mentoring
Print-on-demand (POD) has created a revolution in the book publishing industry. As this digital printing technology has improved, people with stories close to their hearts have discovered they can achieve a once-impossible dream of becoming an author, without having to land a deal with a major publisher.
Research your market
How many titles are already on the market that are similar to yours? What’s your point of difference? If you don’t have time, we’ll do the research for you.
Do you need help with your manuscript?
Do you have a story you feel simply must be told, but aren’t quite sure how to transform it into a published book? Perhaps you need guidance on how to structure your book, or how to keep the reader engaged through slower sections. You might be unsure how to tie the character arcs together in the middle of the book, or create a conclusion that leaves the reader satisfied and wanting more.
Additionally, you may need our professional editing or proofreading services to ensure your book reads well and is free of errors. A professional editor will catch typos, grammatical errors, clear up ambiguous text and apply a consistent style across your manuscript. Finally, getting the book published and distributed is a learning curve in itself.
All of these tasks are much easier with the assistance of someone who has been there before – who knows the pitfalls of the industry and can transform the seemingly impossible task of publishing your book into a series of manageable steps. If you would like help turning your dream into reality, let us provide you the assistance you need to relax and focus on the writing.
Work out your budget
How much are you willing to spend on editing, proofreading, formatting, cover design, marketing and distribution? We can give you costings to meet your needs and get that book published.
Permissions
Do you have any visuals or quotes in your work? If you do, make sure you find out if you have permission to reproduce them in your work. It is likely you need to pay a fee and/or require written permission from the copyright holder. If you do not get permission, you are infringing upon copyright and may find yourself open to a fine.
Bar Codes and International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs)
You’ll need to obtain an ISBN and lodge copies of your book with the National Library of Australia. We can help you do this correctly so that bookstores will accept your book.

You Had Me at Hola
In 2019, Stellar Words founder Leigh Robshaw self-published her first book, a memoir about three years living in Latin America during the 1990s.
The book has received excellent reviews on Goodreads.
In 2020, it won the High Country Indie Book Award, an award that recognises the quality of an independent book both in its writing and production values, judging it as equal in quality to a book published by a major publisher.
A Sparrow's Perspective
In 2021, Leigh took on her first self-publishing client, Kathy Earsman. Kathy had written poetry for three decades and was posting her brilliant work to Facebook only. Stellar Words helped her curate a lifetime of work into a stunning collection of poetry called A Sparrow’s Perspective – the poetry of Kathy Earsman.
The process was relaxed and stress-free, with Kathy achieving a dream she never thought would become a reality – a book of her beautiful work she can sell or give to friends and family members.
